Potato's

I just finished planting my garden tonight. Green goodness all over and my hand smell like dirt (someone should make a perfume that smells like that. ) I can smell good dirt from a mile away.
Any way back to the green goodness. Rows of tomato's squash , hot peppers and cucumbers, and yes potato's.
This is the first time we have grown potato's (and suggestions will be helpful ) I am looking forward to this new veggie. We planted red and white, butter and blue. Yes there are blue potato's. Rows and rows of potato's. Now lets see if we can get them to grow.
I look at my grarden as a story of my life. A new adventure. A new challenge. What steps do we take to prepare. Do we get ready those thing we need, to grow something new. Do we tend to that new thing , giving it all that is required to bring about the fruits of our labors. Are we putting forth the work needed to gain something, or do we think it will grow on its own. I never have found a potato in my garden yet. I am sure it is because I have not planted one until now. And I really don't expect that once I put the work into this I will get watermelon out of the ground. But I also know that I wont get potato's unless I feed, weed and water this.
I know that is something like any good thing in my life. If I want something good to come from my work. Fruits of my labors I have to put the work into it. My kids, My marriage, My calling, My job. Anything good that I want to come from them I have to put the work in first.

Life is Good

My second to the oldest Bobo had a concert tonight. First at his new school and he was great. I found out when he changed schools that he had not really learn much about playing the violin. His teacher called to let me know that he really didn't know how to read music. I was worried. He was already over loaded by the new school and here was one more thing for him to not be up to par on. She told me not to worry. She would make everything OK. She would work extra hard with him. No throwing kids into the deep end in her class.
Even though I was still worried. (that's my job. I'm the mom) I trusted her. Low and behold he is up to level with everyone else almost in the class. It was great
Add to that the sun shine that has been falling on our heads, and life is GOOD

Being a Good Mother

I spoke in church on Sunday about motherhood. The joy and responsibility and everything in between.
What I learned
1-You can make mistakes ~ everyone is going to. Try harder next time
2-You kids will learn what you tell them and what you show them ~ Make sure they are the same.
3-Your husband and father of your children can help in every part of raising great kids ~ He is a most important part
4-Pray is your best tool in bringing them up right.
5-After prayer is faith ~ Now they get to make mistakes too.
6-Teach them how important it is to speak kind words ~ Use kind words when you speak to them.
7-A good Homemaker is really a good house keeper ~ Our home is our family temple and we should want it to look like it.
8- Try harder today then yesterday. And try harder tomorrow then today.
9- You don't have to be perfect to be a good mother. You only have to do the very best you can ~ The best you can is probable better then you might be doing right now. So try Harder.
I guess what I learn most from this talk Is that it is ok to make mistakes , but you must learn from them and be better next time. I also found many great women around me that I can look to as an example. And my kids can look to then as well.
How thankful I am for faithful women who love the Lord and their families and set such a fine example for me.

I think I am done with snow

I know that snow is a good thing. I know we can't just warm up or everything will flood. I know spring is about the ups and downs of weather.
However. I am done with snow. I am done with cold. I am ready to work in my yard and plant a garden. I want warm winds and sprinklers for kids to run through. I would love to have pink pansies and fresh veggies warm from the sun.
They may be nothing better the a tomato sandwich when the tomato is still warm fresh from the garden.
I have nothing against warm sweaters and hot cocoa.
I am just ready for flip flops and cold lemon aid.

The joy that is mine :)

So there are four things (more then that) but four that truly make me happy. I like to call them Haybug, Bobo, Nuker, and Nader. My four kids hold my heart.
They are the glue that holds me together and also the lose string that could make me fall apart.
They are my most favorite ups and downs.
We went out to dinner tonight, a reward for all the good work they do. And yes we ended up a Chuck E Cheese's. It was so much fun to watch them play together, clamor to get their picture taken with each other, and in the end share their tickets to make sure everyone got something fun from the toys.
I was so please to see Haybug(12) take her little bother Nader(4) and make sure he got what he wanted before she did. She still got what she wanted, but she made sure he had his first. Counting her tickets with his to make sure he would not be unhappy.
That was a great example to me and to him. Maybe she helped him to know that he should put others first. To think of himself after he thinks of others.
I know I remind the older kids all the time that the younger ones are looking to them. Seems to me that they heard me.
That is why they are my JOY.

Every choice is an opportunity

Not my word, But good words to live by. I am so glad too know that there are inspired people to share their words of council.

If you are willing to bear the costs of a particular choice in order to enjoy the benefits, then go ahead with it. If the costs are too high for you when compared to the benefits, then move on and find another, more appropriate choice.
When you adopt an attitude that life, or the world, or your community owes you something, you set yourself up for extreme disappointment. Realize instead that you are already living in a universe filled with abundance, and that creating meaningful value out of that abundance is up to you.
No matter who you are, where you are from, or what you have, a life of fulfillment requires personal effort, commitment and integrity from you. It is through making continued positive choices that you line up life's abundance in ways that uniquely express your visions and values.
Every moment is a choice, and every choice is an opportunity to build real and meaningful value in your life. Your choices enable you to direct efforts so that those efforts add up to something great and desirable.
Through the choices you make, you have the power to access the very best of life. Choose often, choose wisely, choose with the highest intentions, and your choices will take you precisely where you wish to go.

General Conference

What a weekend. How great to be able to watch and attend General Conference. To sit with my family and hear the words of the lord spoken from the mouths of disciples.
We were able to go down town to the conference center with three of our children Saturday morning. How great for Syd to get to be at a solemn assembly for her very first conference trip. What an opportunity to teach and learn together the order of things, and to know that the lord has a plan and purpose in his calling of new prophets.
She was bubbling over with joy at the opportunity. With her brother and sister.
I personal love the chance to be able to stand and add my hand to those fellow members and sustain Thomas S. Monson as the next president of the church.
I add my testimony to all those that have said. He is a prophet of the Lord. He was called before he came. Foreordained by the lord to lead this true church at this time.
I am grateful to have had the Holy Ghost witness this truth to me. And I am grateful that I was able to share this next step for the church with my family.
